It's normal when you shoot it in that certain spot aka on top of the road. Shoot anywhere else and it will be destroyed like it normally would. It's one of the VALVe's little cool thing we all love. ^^

If you're using Radeon 9800 Pro (I'm not sure about other Radeons nor Nvidias), you can set gamam increase as a hotkey from the propeties and advanced. It works miracles.
