i haven't used that system before but have heard a bit about it. Apparently you get more points depending on where a player is ranked on that server, and also where you are ranked.
eg. you get more points for killing a player that is 2nd than a player that is 50th.
and you will get less...
for someone new to hl2dm it's too complicated to explain. You would need to strip the player of their weapons every time they spawned and then only give them a grav gun. Alternatively make some maps that only allow the user to have a grav gun (there are possibly some out there).
was possibly the old beta... will have to check out the new one.
My server doesn't have 5 sec item respawn time thankfully :)
The spawn points I'm worried about are the ones at the front of the plaza out in the open. Easy fodder for anyone that's got the RL or combine rifle.. or AR2 for that...
no, sv_gravity does change objects weight, but you may need to restart the level for it to work.
use sv_gravity 50 (or whatever u want to set it as) then changelevel to change the level...
When you change the gravity back you will notice that players gravity will be back to normal, but...
my server has been running your map for quite a long time now :)
only complaints really are there's too many smg nades and orbs which makes the map spammy... and some of the spawn points could've been placed better (very easy to get killed in some of the locations).
Otherwise it's a good map.
hi, i admin a hl2dm server in Australia and have added a few ctf maps there - bittah.com is the server (you'll see it's basically the only AU server with more than one or two custom maps. It's not the ctf mod, but it still plays ctf in normal hl2dm mode. Check it out if you get the chance.
wooohooo thats my server :P
dont worry man, new maps going on the server very shortly, killbox will be much lower in the rotation... sad that one of the most basic and ugly looking maps is the most popular.
you've covered a lot there, but still missing some things..
eg. You can make specific people "ignite" if you know what you're doing...
You can set targets for Striders, Helicopters, Gunships, etc
You can even make the combine gunship pick up other players or npcs and fly around with...
Actually, if you just go to options and change your player model to the other team it changes you over... not the most intuitive way to handle it - but it's there.
Talk to your clan about it if you want, maybe we can work something out together - they might like to have their own server which can be passworded if they want to practice on their own and can add whatever maps they want.
I'm happy to put in (if they need/want me to join the clan that's cool...
