Tried that exact suggestion a few hours before.
Great thing is Steam refuses to start in offline mode from a system restore until it's been 'updated' online.
Which means, like it or not, Steam is going to update.
Fantastic, huh? Especially when the patch makes the game far more unplayable.
Game runs like shit here too. I sorted out the graphical problems this patch caused, and now I've lost 30fps in the process.
Wonderful. I love it when things that are supposed to help end up making the problem worse.
My Steam client showed it was updating, so I don't know what happened...
Plentiful graphical bugs for me now along with the suttering, even though I've used system restore, changed drivers, reverted back to normal default BIOS settings and reinstalled the game.
You wouldn't believe how corrupt everything is now. Half-Life 2 now has a colour format equivalent to a...
That's because it may still be a sound caching issue on some machines, where this patch may have been used to accomodate and ease the pressure somewhat perhaps.
It didn't work on mine, and has seemingly added a whole heap of problems too.
No change here either, but with lots of added graphical weirdness such as corrupt textures, text and frame rate loss. As for the stuttering...
The same.
Miles Sound System still remains the most likely problem, and let's face it, it will be for the foreseeable future.
Just to chime in that I also suffer from this problem too. It's not as bad as it is for some people, but it is there, and it does (unfortunately) harm the immersion of the game.
Which is a shame, because it's like having the world's finest novel with sentences repeated on the same page...
I recently entered an inoquous thread whose title didn't relate to anything spoiler-based, and on the second post, pvtryan, a forum user, ruins the whole game's ending for me without using a spoiler tag. With no warning coming.
Thanks. :(
This has happened on two other occasions. I've...
I think Warbie and Kage deserve props for the information they've provided. Cheers guys. :)
The review makes the game sound something very special indeed.
Just read the review.
The game sounds mightly impressive. :D
Especially in terms of narrative, atmosphere and immersion - Which are my main concerns.
Murray, Edge is officially released in the shops on October 28th. A day before San Andreas. ;)
I also have to echo the sentiments of others in this thread. Edge's score should be top of the news stuff on the site. ;)
They are considered by most to be the industry-standard magazine after all, and a 10/10 from them is considered to be rather special.
Warbie... How does Edge look...
Thanks man. I'm going to make sure it doesn't. :)
The experience of 'being there' seems to an important element in terms of the immersion with Half-Life 2. And no information on the narrative will be able to take that away in my opinion.
GWalker, check NTSC-uk's two threads in General...
