I hate to say it, but Gamespot has always been right in my opinion. I won't judge them until I play the game myself, at least then my take on the game will mean something.
Yes, this makes me wonder if that was Valve's plan all along, to make the game violent enough to earn an adult only rating, hence hindering young kids' ability to buy in stores. They've screwed over Vivendi from every side.
That is an excellent point! I'm not positive if that's how they did it. After all they have to maintain compatibility with those with no internet. Encryption is the only way to eliminate piracy altogether. I would be VERY surprised if hackers were able to break HL2's encryption. I hope that next...
I preload them as I see them on steam, I don't see why not if you have a good internet connection. It seems to be a lot simpler if you just buy the game off steam, and there's the possibility of the game being sold out in stores. Money's not an issue for me either :P
