All the extra content in Gold costs $40 - since after shipping (in the US) Gold comes to a total of $100 and Silver gets you all the same game content for $60.
The strategy guide is $25 according to EBGames and Prima, so that means everything else is $15. Considering the Halo 2 soundtrack...
The Far Cry one is pretty funny if you played through it in "Paradise" mode. The image sums it up pretty nicely.
I still thought the game looked fantastic, though.
I really loved Far Cry, too. What difficulties did you guys play on that the AI acted dumb? They're quite smart in Veteran, and I haven't even tried Realistic yet.
Athlon 64 processors aren't too hot, and they're the fastest around right now. A 2.2ghz A64 beats a 3.6ghz P4.
We're also discussing real-time graphics. Just because we can create photorealistic images with a modeling program doesn't mean we'll have real-time raytracing any time soon.
I really like the use of "exponentially" in this thread... particularly
But in any case, it really is the subtle things that'll continue to advance and will actually make the biggest difference as time goes on. Getting facial animations just right and giving limbs proper weights would make...
All future reviews should take place in the reviewers' home/workplace. I know that a guy on the staff of the site I write for has had his name added to the reviewers list on Steam - don't know if he'll be getting the game early or not, though.
What I was talking about only applies to interactions between players and server-side physics objects. Bullets/grenades cause objects to react properly.
Unless Gordon and the barrels are of the same mass, they would not both be pushed back by the same amount. The force acting upon each of them would be equal, but the force would have a stronger effect on the object with less mass.
However, that's irrelevant when we're talking about...
Two different entities. I know it's probably already been said in this thread but just so you guys get it: the current CS:S maps use "prop_physics_multiplayer". Some of the custom maps available use "prop_physics" - they don't have that weird behavior, but brushing against the objects causes...
Yes, as the previous poster said the 3d skyboxes can be animated. They can even utilize physics... perhaps a circus map could have flying trapeeze ragdolls! I don't think there's really anything to animate in the CS:S maps... the ambient effects like the dust clouds in Dust are just fine.
He hasn't told us his current specs yet... that might be a good idea. I have the feeling a 6800 would be overkill and the extra money would be best used towards a new processor ($97 will get you an Athlon XP Mobile 2400+ which is very easily overclocked to a 3200+) or something of the like...
