Vampire: Bloodlines is being published by Activision. Rather than Troika going after VU, Activision may well step in if the release of HL2 (and hence their own title) is delayed unnecessarily.

VUG doesn't control Steam. I don't think they get any revenue from that channel, or if they do it will be substancially reduced - they're not "distributing" the game. Remember, Valve have stated they make 2.5 X more per sale through Steam than through retail sales.
