This level was the only one in the whole game that I couldn't find straightforward solutions for. What I did in that room was take out the closest turret by doing a little bit of portal magic. If you place a portal on the wall right behind the turret, you won't have enough momentum to get to it...
In your steam installed games list, right-click on hl2 ep2, then click on Set Launch Options. Then type -dxlevel 81. I also play on a laptop and the game went from being unplayable to working awesome at 1440x900 with textures on High.
Agreed. I just had to blow some steam (no pun intended) because this garry fiasco (not garry's fault) was the straw that broke the camel's back. I am no troll though so I won't be coming back here. I am done with hl2 and anything steam.
*goes back to playing oblivion*
I have lost all respect for Valve. They are turning into one of those companies that will do anything to raise some quick cash without thinking of the longterm effect on customer loyalty. Steam is the perfect tool to release incomplete, buggy software to make a quick buck. Case in point...
Can we start talking less about EULAs and more about steam performance issues? How much of a performance hit does steam entail? Does it actually affect ingame framerate? Is there a way to bypass steam without using a crack (shutting the process whilst hl2 is running is not a good idea)? Why does...
Those are very interesting numbers. When I load steam, it takes up ~20mb of my 1gb of ram. If I start hl2 and quit, steam will have doubled in size to an incredible 40mb of precious ram. This doesn't make any sense.
Anyone remember the atrocious bugs the older versions of steam had? One...
Well, the sp is really just a listen server which my client connects to. I remember in quake3, when playing against the bots with the default settings, some shots would miss because the server runs at a default of 20 fps. Setting sv_fps 60 made everything super smooth.
EDIT: do you also get...
The laser on the RPG lags behind my crosshair in singleplayer (not in dm). I believe this is related to the slightly lagged hitboxes. If I'm shooting with the magnum, I have to lead ahead of running targets or the shot totally misses. I even lowered the timescale to make sure, and sure enough...
That's pretty cool. Now try playing on hard with nothing but the USP and crowbar. I've started such a game but haven't had much time recently so I'm not very far.
Anyone know how the autoaim actually works? I set the game to easy and didn't notice anything.
I was messing around with the game's source code, and it appears that even normal difficulty has autoaim, just not as strong as on easy difficulty.
It ends when you want it to end. I'm replaying it for the 3rd time, this time on hard with nothing but the USP and crowbar. Then I will attempt with just the gravgun, also on hard.
#1: absolutely hilarious. The can + guard scene had me pissing my pants laughing.
#2: not nearly as funny as the first one. Then again, it was mostly airboat throughout.
#3: omg I can't believe those poison headcrabs didn't scare you! I laughed my ass off at the doom3 horror cheese throughout...
