Hi reginald no I have not changed anything about my net connection, when I get home I will try a reboot and see if that helps. I am sure it is something simple that perhaps I have overlooked which is causing the problem. Anyway thanks for your suggestions.
I have tried closing steam a few times and starting it up again but it stil will not recognize a net connection.
I have not connected to steam for several months so I don't know if the problem started some time ago.
Your hard drive would not cause stuttering as the data is loaded into ram before it is used by the cpu etc. Stuttering is a problem many people seem to experience when HL2 first came out, have a look back through some of the old threads and check you have all the HL2 updates downloaded. Also...
Having got myself the HL2 E1 game I find my Steam programe will not recognize when I am connected to the net, any suggestions on how to get round this problem?
Would Time mag also say that children and teenagers should not watch the news or read a paper so they do not see the real violence that goes on in the world. I seem to remember Time mag deals with real life also so should we not let the young ones read their mag.
I think Time mag should deal...
The ISP might be free but what is your cell phone service provider going to charge you for downloading a large amount of data via their network? I would contact them first to find out.
I suspect playing HL2 has pushed your 32 meg video card so hard that the chips have got very hot on it causing your problems. A 32 meg card is not designed to play games like HL2, marathon playing of HL2 with this card should not kill your motherboard but the heat generated at the AGP slot would...
Can't help you much as to why HL2 crashed but there is nothing wrong with your system specs, by the way 1.5 GB of ram is not to much. Some people seem to think to much is no good so in short that is not a problem.
Two things you can check, press Ctrl+Alt+Del when the window comes up check all...
Depends how long you intend to keep your computer, bear in mind if you buy a good video card you can put that in your new system. People have been able to play HL2 with 64 MB of ram on the video card but that is a bit low.
Also bear in mind what ever you spend on extra ram you may not get...
You will need to check the ram you have now to see what speed it is, you have two options buy 1 stick of ram the same speed or buy two new ones to give you 1 gig. You still need to check with intel what speed ram your motherboard supports, if it only supports a speed lower than 400 putting 400...
To answer your question about how much ram you should get depends on what you are using the computer for. 512 is fine for most things 1 gig is a good amount to go for.
Without knowing what make and model motherboard you have your other questions can not be answerd. If you know the...
