I think it's just you. Dustbowl is indeed quite beautiful, but other maps such as SD2 and CZ2 are definitely up to Source standards. Maybe you need to play the game to see them the right way, but FF has some of the best mapping I've seen in Source.
Keep in mind as well, that Source mapping...
Well, I respect their attempt to go for realism, but taking out the HUD and crosshair is just going to throw this mod into the ground a week after release.
Portal continues to look incredibly amazing, and Episode 2 continues to look like Episode 1 which looked like HL2. So... if I didn't have to buy Ep2 to get Portal and TF2... I wouldnt.

Also, AFAIK, TF2 and FF are the only ones with gibs so far.

I agree with you. The media itself wasn't as thrilling, but the fact that these are all ingame screenies from successful playtests makes this update more exciting than all the other ones put together.
It's really starting to feel like it's coming together, even for just members of the community.
Adding a bunch of props would wreck it. When the game comes out, try playing a CS map on it. Every time you conc you'll get stuck on pipes/brush etc.
That said they've jazzed up the dullness from HL1. The architecture is superb and all curvey.
And I'm a fan of not having Sui's drawings...
Absolutely gorgeous. I'm extremely impressed with the stream of media from these guys. Looks like they've found a great balance of beauty and functionality with their graphics.
I love the ability to sit on the back of the truck and shoot.
