as for myself, I really liked it, it was as good as Uplink, wich was my favorite from Introversion until now :P
now that's what I call an awesome news! I'll be buying it again just to show my support, the game is awesome!
and I can't wait for september 29th, Defcon will be amazing. I'll play some uplink while waiting :P
that's kind of a shame since the game really has a great potential...I played for half an hour, and once the flow of the game has kicked in, it's pretty decent for a mod. anyone remember Battlegrounds, the first time it came out? youch. but this, though not complete, isn't utter crap either.
I just think it's because you're redoing it, so you have a better pacing/accurary rating, wich means you actually got better, hence the game thinking it's time to crank things up ;)

oh and it gives the opportunity to be ready to play when it's out (imagine if everyone paid and downloaded the first day the game is released...youch.)
first, it gives the opportunity to developers to iron out everything while receiving a little money :P
but the real reason is that the Retail package ain't ready yet, so to make everything perfect, it will all be released the same day ^^
