If o delete ClientRegistry.blob,another one is already there,i should try renaming it

When i try to start Half-Life 2 Episode One or Episode 2 over Steam,it says "Preparing to launch Half-Life 2 Episode ...",but nothing happens,it exits that window,and nothing happens,and when i try to start Half-Life 2,it starts it,please,someone help!!!
