Why the Hydra was cut From Raising the Bar:

Valve said they intend to do HL3 on Source. They will keep Source up to date with new hardware so that it doesn't age.

I thought for a second that it was some kind of torture thing for bad Combine soldiers. Of course, I just wanted to blast everything in the place, cause I was pretty pissed at Our Benefactors by that point. Bastards won't let Alyx and me have sex.
