Right-click on the exe in its Program Files folder (or the shortcut to it) and set the compatibility mode for Windows 98. For some weird (probably Direct Input) related reason this seems to fix that problem.

The original Xbox was much like a PC, but the new Xbox 360 is quite different with it's PowerPC processor. But when you factor in things like XNA the differences get blurred.
I'd guess that there'll be some DirectX 10 updates to the engine around about the same time any new Source game gets...

Funny thing is that when you try and take screenshots in mat_dxlevel 60 or 70 they all come out as black. At least for me. So I had to use alt+print-screen.
