Its all about combinifacation. They pull out those needless little organs we're unfortunate to be born with and put in shiny new metal organs. They're made out of stainless steel, so they never rust. Handy, especially when they never break down. Mostly. Thus, immortality.
Gordon Freeman is a magnet. He attracts comic failure, death squads, ragdolls and Grunts. By some sort of subspace anomaly, his natural force of attraction catapulted legions of Grunts in his general dimension.
We, the player, are Gordon Freeman. Therefore, if Nihilanth lived, we died. Our conflict was inevitable because of level design. Thus, victory assured the survival of yourself--as Gordon--who is infinatly more important then the rest of the world.

God ****ing damn, you guys are quick to judge. Havn't you ever managed to finish a match, on foot, without a death? I do it all the time. You know, duck and cover.
Less ammo crates. The little ammo-box on the back of the buggy was fine, but the ammo crates in the strider battles took alot away from the experience. Sprinkle around some rockets, but don't give us unlimited ammo.
