something I just realised that might be of consideration is that whenever i'm in my steam account the thing that shows you something's loading, beside the arrow (the hour glass thing) keeps vanishing and then appearing rapidly. Any possible connection? btw I have disabled HDR already...

Thanks I'll try that! I have tried reducing the settings and it improves the framerate slightly although the other problems remain (This is Ep 1 only as Hl 2 has no framerate problems) I'll try updating the drivers
