According to Valve, they take your average play time so that they can give you the chance to get an item. Basically, every X amount of time, you get a Y% chance of finding a new weapon.
I've enjoyed the few games of pipeline I've played, though I've found the second stage to be the longest by far. Every time I've played the third stage, either my team or the other one wins it in a few minutes for some reason. In the future though, it should get more drawn out as people come up...
I don't mind the new system, then again I've found like 6 things already. I understand what Valve was trying to do though, they wanted to avoid people having to grind classes to earn new items. Even though some people consider this "working for the unlocks" it requires to much time IMO.

So far, I've found 2 Ambassadors, 2 Dead Ringers and Jarate.
The ambassador is pretty sweet although I don't use my gun as a spy often, but the dead ringer is really hard to use well. Since it only gives you 8 seconds after you've "died" before you become visible again you don't have much...
I was in the same situation as you and started on the 360, my friends eventually but me the PC version as well though. I play it more often on the PC because I find that the players are much more fun to play with. i.e. they're not pre-pubescent kids screaming into their mics.
Yeah, for sure pick up Metroid, they've always been really comprehensive and deep games. I enjoyed playing Mario Kart Wii, but it gets old relatively fast unless you play it with friends often. Make sure to pick up either a GC controller or a classic controller add-on so you can play GC, N64 and...
I dunno, I kindof lost my faith in the SC series after DA, Chaos Theory was awesome but DA was too simplistic. I'll give it a go when it comes out but I think it might just turn out to be a modern day Assassin's Creed.
The photo quality is pretty decent considering the components you're using, some of the finer details are missing like the reflections and definition around the edges of the portals, but otherwise its pretty good.
The main reason that it'll never happen is because Microsoft would never allow it and that it is almost completely redundant. The hard drive size has nothing to do with it.
While I agree with everything that has been said, mainly that PCs are better gaming rigs, I am not buying a mac for gaming. I plan on getting one and was wondering if anybody had any experience gaming with them because it would be a nice bonus to be able to play Steam games.
