DoD:S wouldn't be a surprise...we already know it's coming at some point...i guess it'd be a surprise if it was done already...but i hope valve has learned not to get people's hopes up and not deliver. too many people are thinking it's going to be DM...if it's not...ugh...these forums will be...
i don't understand what you would classify as "groundbreaking"
since the quake and HL1 era, FPS's have been done in 100's of ways. in what way could you break new ground with the FPS genre?
if you knew the answer to that question, it'd be worth a lot of money. valve took their in-house...
and i don't remember anywhere in the game hearing that the other cities had citadels. sure there are people who say they came from other cities...probably a more toned-down version of the citadel...and definitely a combine.
and combine is always used as a noun...not as in combining things...
i get the problem...but like many others, only when it loads a new section or a tiny bit when i quicksave...i'm sure if i did all the command line tweaking it'd work better...haven't had time to try
but i beat the game without caring that much...so that tells you how much of a bother it was/is :p
yeah i carried the turrets from the last part as well....
actually only one turret...it was fun to go through the game and be able to slap down a turret whenever there were enemies...or carry the turret as your weapon
laff...how about that part just before you go into the citadel when they put 3-4 supply crates full of health packs and suit batteries near some great cover. you go over to bust open the crates and a strider uses its uber cannon and blows the shit out of that whole area, insta-killing you...
it was scarier than ravenholm because there wasn't anywhere to go and not that many things to use with the grav gun. that, and i didn't want to waste all my shotgun ammo....so useful on combine soldiers.
and i hated doom 3 because of the darkness....it was more annoying than anything else...
it would be cool to also mod it so you could grab the helicopters and striders as well. grabbing the leg of a strider would be sweet...though i'm not sure if they "cheat" the physics in order to walk and/or fly.
just one time when a combine soldier was RIGHT in my face in a dark room. was early in the game before you really encounter them a lot...lol...he wasn't shooting...i think we surprised each other.
