I loved the story and the ending. I loved the weapon balance. I'm much more likely to complain about games that have too many weapons/levels/enemies just for the sake of it, and aren't fun at all. HL2 took so long to develop precisely because they were choosy about what they put into it-- they...
My Solution-- hope it works for you.

I put it in a new thread so that it stood out for others with this problem.
I was having a problem where Half-Life 2 was re-validating its files almost every time I tried to run it. I know other people have been experiencing this as well.
This is a pretty simple solution, but it worked for me. If you've been having the same problem, hopefully it will work for you...
They put in a balanced selection of weapons. There was no need for another gun-- all it would have done is meant one of the existing guns was less useful.
Grav gun, no contest. I also like how the weapons had a lot less ammo capacity than in HL1.. it meant you really had to make use of all your tools. I didn't know about the blinding effects of bugbait-- I'll have to give that a try.
It's a very fair question. That door actually gave me a moment's trouple, and I'm a long-time FPS player. The reason it's annoying is because in a game with a realistic physics system, you'd expect to simply be able to push through a door that's ajar, and not have to press 'use'. That was one...
Yeah, I think it's a gameplay/technical decision, not a "realism" one, which is all for the good. And like someone else said, it makes the super grav gun that much cooler by comparison.
What do headcrabs actually do on their native planet? Do they do their zombie thing over there, and what's the purpose of it anyway? I've never seen a crab attached to a vortigaunt or anything. Any ideas?
Mine keeps doing it too. It's obviously a bug. Everyone fill out a form on steampowered.com and maybe we can get this fixed. Annoying that a feature that was supposed to help people with broken files has now backfired and is annoying people. Maybe the naysayers were right about Steam...
