IMHO, Timeline 2 and 3, both great mods that don't get the recognition they deserve, should be ported to Source. They're both very well made, beutiful mods (especially 3) and would really benefit from Source's better graphics and enhanced physics.

You can get arround banned IPs using http://www.anonymization.net/ That site also works great for getting around URL-based web filters.

BTW, ClientRegistry.blob is in your Steam program folder(normally C:\Program Files\Steam). Also, be sure to backup your .blob file in case something goes wrong. And this problem doesn't seem to create lack of functionality in Steam(except the settings dialog, but you can just use the arrow...

You actually have to EXTRACT everything from pak1.pak into the \steam\steamapps\[email protected]\half-life\valve folder(be sure to preserve the paths). If you need a .pak file extractor then try PakScape under Misc. at http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?doc=1047496381-02062100
