Dear god, if I have to read another "OMFG ALYX D3AD???!1111111 GM@N OMG!!!!!!!!11111111111" thread, I think I'll murder the poster before commiting sepuku myself. Honestly people, this question has been asked hundreds and hundreds of times; can you not take the time to read pre-existing threads...
First of all, let me commend you on an excellent summary/character analysis! Prior to reading this, I only knew what Stalkers looked like based on the poorly-lit sightings I had inside the Citadel.
As for the various parts of the Combine Advisor, I have some personal suggestions I thought I...
I have a router, so like I said, I could simply unplug it. However, that would mean the rest of the household would be without an internet connection (bad).
Does Steam have an impact on performance ingame? (I have a 2.4ghz pentium, ATI 9700 Pro, 512gb ram...)

I'd suggest you close it before things get any more out of hand...
I noticed the same thing, but I assume it was just an extra effect added to the videos? Maybe I'm wrong, but I find it hard to believe that Valve would design a noise-alert system to allow you to know you've killed your target, especially with the realism regarding death animations...
Well, I guess that depends on what kind of fan you are, doesn't it? I personally am waiting until the game is released in retail form (I prefer having a solid copy rather than digital code in a window's folder), so I didn't buy either.
Oh! Just a quick note- if you're buying through Steam...
Maybe you're just being a little too optomistic. The game is going Gold regardless within the month of October, but that doesn't mean you'll be playing the game until sometime in November. Unless of course Valve REALLY screws over Vevendi, in which case you could have it via Steam whenever Valve...
