you need to add a move_rope entity (beginning of rope) and keyframe_rope entities (all points to connect to after beginning of a single rope) ... give all keyframe_rope entities specific names, and go into the properties of move_rope (or keyframe_rope, but to start you need move_rope) and set...
cool idea, and I think you can do that elevator thing you described.... then again, I'm going only on what you described, I haven't actually played that level... you just basically have a few brushes that move in square, but that square goes through a wall
apparently func_detail brush entities can't be displacement maps... that means much of my level is unrenderable lol
is there a way to revert func_details to regular brushes again?
hacks are funky.. I remember once when the other team accused my WHOLE team of cheating...then this guy on my team logs on saying "no.. THIS IS HACKING!" and starts running around with a speed hack.. ..oy... how can you hit anything like that? lol

you can use ambient_generic (entity) to do just that, I believe
