Well it seems a lot of developers like the Steam idea. So in the future many more devs will either be using Steam like Ritual is doing for Sin, or they will be using programs similar to Steam. No matter if you hate it or not it won't change a thing.
Not sure if anyone has stated this before but I fixed my errors that were occuring in HL2. I am using the 5.7 Cats, I turned off Vsync, I disabled VPU, and disabled Catalyst A.I. I think the main problem was with the VPU and A.I. Vsync should be fine. HL2 now loads up fine and never locks up...
Well thats great for you but some of us don't have $500 or more to just throw away. Plus my mobo isn't even a year old yet. When I first got HL2 it worked like a dream. Once HL2 was updated these crashes started to happen.

The physics seem perfectly fine for me. Sure they seem laggy and what not but its multiplayer what do you expect? And I hate the physics on CS:S you run into a barrel and you bounce back, the barrel barely moves.
