    Halflife2 WW2 Mods?

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. Last time I looked there were almost twice as many modern combat mods than there are WWII mods. I'm not sure why people feel the need to go out of their way to complain about the number of WWII mods when other genres are just as...

whats the deal with bink? do i get the same fps as i would in the game?

Huge, there's been some debate over why those features were not included. It is clearly visable that anti-aliasing is turned off and it appears other DX9 features weren't enabled either. To answer your original question the video has nothing to do with how the game itself will run. I don't know...

    Half-Life 2 Delay Discussion Thread

Are you serious?! We just found out about HL2 at E3 this year and you're complaining that we've had to wait too long? Give me a break. Another 3 months (or less, since 3 months from Sept 30th would be Dec 30th, thus holiday season) is not going to kill you. There are quite a few people on this...

So wouldn't that make Valve the publisher?

    Curious about the A.I.

So he shot through a window, right next to the door. There's not much AI going into that. He took a few steps and proceeded to fire, blindly I might add. Besides there were plenty of other soldiers who stood there and did very little. My point is that either the AI was on or off. If it's off...

    9-11 Survivor mod

I agree with Reak. It happend too recently to not be considered tasteless. That image of a player falling from the building is disturbing. Not to mention, this game has no replayability. We know how the game ends, and there weren't too many ways out of the building. How could this mod possibly...

    Havok physics engine application

If the crowbar has physics applied to it, then why does it play the same animation everytime Gordon swings it? And why does it not react to hitting wood or another solid surface? Before you get started, I realize that the demos shown may not have everything in the game, or even finished, but...

    Curious about the A.I.

I have to agree with Lifthz on this one. The demonstrations were far from the best AI ever seen. My question to the rest of you is; we've established that the AI was probably toned down or even off completely, yet you still glorify it as the best in the industry. So which is it? The best you've...

    Havok physics engine application

Doesn't the Havok engine take care of the ragdoll effect on player models? I believe so, if that's the case then I don't see why you couldn't do what you're asking.

    The Specialists

I don't know if you're using All Seeing Eye or not, but I highly suggest it if you don't. I can usually find a dozen or more servers with it, most of which seem to be stable. I haven't devoted a whole lot of time though, so I may have just not come across it. http://www.udpsoft.com/

    Mods signing with publishers?

You have a point, but look at Hollywood. Film studios buy scripts from first time writers without knowing how successfull the movie will be. Buisness is all about gambles, and making the right ones. Sometimes all you need to do is come up with something that has mass appeal, and a publisher will...

HL2 look primitive in 5 years?

I think it'll be more than 5 years time. There's still a LOT of improvements that can be made to games like HL2, DOOM III, etc. I don't doubt it will happen, but I'd give it more than 5 years.

issues with game supply on release.

Re: Re: issues with game supply on release. Just because you pre-order doesn't always mean you'll get your copy. I worked for Gamestop up until just recently, and there were several games that we weren't able to fill the pre-order on. I believe GTA: Vice City was one of them. Sometimes they...

    coding question...

AI is some of the most complicated code to write. There really is a lot more than just conditional statements. However, basically it is a series of checks for various conditions within the environment and the player(s). Then writing extensive functions that control the actions and define...
