Could be a driver issue that chokes performance at 800x600, or maybe the drivers disable AA/AF at 1280x1024.. Could be anything really.

The cards seem just about equal, but some games, like FarCry with the upcoming 1.3 patch, will take advantage of Nvidia's higher color range (128bits vs 96bits) for fantastic visuals that ATI owners won't get. For me that was the deciding issue and why I now own a 6800 Ultra, couldn't be happier...
