OK today I made a test map with the beta and tried out all the interesting monsters I could find in the fgd file. The results were pretty cool, turns out there is a lot more working stuff in there than I had seen walking around the existing maps. Most of the monsters...
I have written a summary of interesting stuff I found in the leak which isn't in the final game. The purpose of this is just to give ppl an idea of what there is in there, and maybe someone will get ideas for stuff that would be cool to put in a mod ;) . Please note that I did not spend any time...
While were on the subject of cool gliches in the level design, who has tried swimming in the skyboxes on surface tension. You can get around quite easily that way ;) (see hl speedruns)
I don't know how different the process is for compiling hl2 models from hl1 models, but this i my guess at the quickest way to do it:
1.) decompile hl:s low-poly model
2.) take reference smd (the one with a mesh) and delete the mesh (leave the bones).
3.) decompile old-format, high-poly BS...
It would be cool if, having found some 1337 3d artists with a passion for HL who remake the HL1 monsters to perfection, you then got them to remake chumtoad, friendly, kingpin etc. This would be cool for mappers. BM:S could take over the worlddddd!!!!!!
Really like where you are going with this Xen remake :thumbs:
Make full use of DX9 shaders and higher poly counts and you could end up with something quite beautiful to look at (and cool to shoot up).
