My thoughts exactly when I saw this. This is an incredibly intelligent move, IMO. What I hope this brings is the ability to activate CDkeys from box games (non-valve) on Steam.

I had that problem too. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. I first noticed it in TF2 last week and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to stay. Today however, I was able to set Portal to Very High and it stayed. Dunno...

I got past that this morning, but I don't recal what exactly test 14 looked like. I can't load it up until I get home. Any more details?

Well, it was nice to find out at 3:00 this morning that I had a bad DIMM. After troubleshooting I had a heck of a time trying to play a game in Vista on only 1GB Ram. =( Besides that though, PORTAL absolutely rocks. Brilliant Valve! I can't get enough!

I agree. Achievements have more importance on a console where it is harder to cheat. Also, with xbox 360 every game has acheivments. Who cares about acheivements for one or two of your 20+ PC games?

Do we expect anything less? You just know Gabe is pacing around repeating - "But its just not ready yet!" To be honest, I would easily scrap the beta for a finished product. Id hate to see this game start out anyway short of perfect.
