Rules / FAQ

Welcome to the ValveTime Forums

More than anything, ValveTime is a community. While we're proud to offer forums for discussing Valve Games including DOTA 2, Team Fortress 2, and the Half-Life Series, as well as forums for general gaming, technical support, and off-topic discussions, there are rules which must be enforced to provide an enjoyable atmosphere for all of our users.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our posting regulations, and understand that we also rely on YOU to help us keep this community friendly and enjoyable. This means that not only do the rest of the members expect you to follow these guidelines in your own posts, the administrators and moderators should be contacted via private message if you feel that another member's post has violated these rules to such a degree that you would like to bring it to our attention.

All reported posts will be judged without prejudice.

Posting Regulations

No Pornographic or Sexual Material.
Any sexually oriented imagery or links to such content will not be tolerated. Additionally, sexually explicit discussions are not acceptable to our community.

No Profanity.
The forums censor all of the fun and naughty words we could think up. Circumventing that rule by the use of different fonts, colours, or any other clever workarounds will not be tolerated.

No Warez, Illegal Software or Scans of Copyrighted Material.
This includes linking to, posting about, requesting, and suggesting ways of obtaining illegal software and/or other copyrighted materials such as scans of magazine articles. Posting such information may also result in your posting privileges being revoked. Furthermore, we will not tolerate postings that encourage people to violate copy protection by referring them to sites that have copy protection codes publicized (including No-CD Cracks) and/or illegal software. Any such post will be removed from our forums and your membership and posting privileges will be revoked immediately.

No FAO (for the attention of) posts.
You will refrain from having personal discussions or "for the attention of" post with other board members. Please use the Private Message feature of the board.

No Impersonations / One Account Per User.
Do not attempt to impersonate other forum members, and forum moderators/administrators. Such an attempt will not be successful and it is an offense that will get you banned from the forums -no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Please do not post email addresses, standard addresses, messaging client numbers, or phone numbers which are not your own.

Please do not register multiple accounts. Whether they are created for the purposes of trolling, arguing with yourself, or supporting your own arguments, using alternate nicknames and accounts is considered to be spamming and / or trolling, depending on circumstances.

No Abusive Behaviour.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this Forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, abusive, hateful, harassing, obscene, sexually explicit, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Hate speech is not tolerated. We will not tolerate abuse upon another member.

Signatures
Registered members are allowed to append signatures to their posts, though we ask that you keep your signatures to a maximum of 4 lines. Images are not allowed in signatures. The administrators may also remove any signature that is too large, or is inappropriate.

If a member feels that these rules have been violated, they are encouraged to report the offensive post to a moderator or administrator via Private Message for review.

Our forums moderators hold the right of closing or deleting a thread they feel is inappropriate. Once a topic is closed, members are not allowed to start new ones with the same topic or to question why a specific thread has been closed. All questions or remarks regarding closed or deleted threads must be discussed privately with the moderator who performed this action.

If you do not like these guidelines, please don't post. If you break these rules, we reserve the right to revoke your posting privileges. Remember, posting here is a privilege and not a right.

If your posting privileges have been revoked and you have questions about why, or what you might be able to do to restore them (this is not possible in all cases), please contact the Forums Administrators.

ValveTime.net takes no responsibility for the content, links to or use of the content of the messages posted on this board, nor do we endorse the opinions of the authors. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages.

We at ValveTime.net reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever.

Message boards are a dynamic entity, and ValveTime.net reserves the right to change or alter these rules at any time. An Administrator's word is final.

ValveTime.net reserves the right to alter these rules without prior notice.

FAQ

1. I can't log in with my existing account!
Usernames that contained special, accented characters were unfortunately adjusted during the transfer from Halflife2.net. If your account was one of those, please use this form to let the staff know what your username was, and we will adjust it.

2. What commands are available when posting in the forums?
In addition to the normal WYSIWYG commands, you can use "/me" to describe yourself doing something, "/slap username" to assault another member. You can also use "@ username" to tag someone, as you would on Twitter.
