I feel pretty stupid asking this... I wasn't really sure about the ending of HL2, what did it mean? What really happened? You were just about to die, yet you were still alive, in some sort of paused state? As if you were saved, or put to some kind of jail for a long time to where only your mind functions?

I dont know, can somewone give me a better explanation of the ending story?

Thanks a mill

-Bob

EDIT: Sucks that your still alive somewhat and that girl died probably, she was cute ;)

Well, you stopped Breen from escaping. You also destroyed The Citadel and damaged most parts of City 17. You were saved by G-Man and was again put into slow warp were you await your next assignment.

You're put into slow-time stasis. According to many many people, it's what the G-Man put you in at the end of Half-Life, and brought you out of it just as he teleports you onto the train entering City 17.

You also find that all the teleportation research that went on in HL, and parts of HL2, has lead to a vague understanding of one form of time travel. Of course, the Combine know much more about it than we do, though the technology that powers theirs is inferior somehow.

At least, that's what I got out of it.

well, gman owns you, and for a price from people, they can hire you (gorden) from gman, and you prolly got hired from the resistence to help, and when you blew the catredial up, your job was complete, so gman put you back into some slow time warp until your next assiment, and there was a timeline thing somewhere explaining everything about hl1 and 2. and many people believe resistence hired gorden because of some stuff they see in the game, like gman giving the captain the rocket, voldis saying we serve for the same mystery, they mean gman, you see him watching tv, and gman is on, he was prolly talking to him. and many other stuff i cant think of right off my head

actually, i dont think your mind is functioning. according to raising the bar to gordan freeman the transition between HL1 and HL2 as instantanios. One second he is on the black mesa tram, the next seomd he is on a train entering city 17. sorta like a dreamless sleep.
