sorry i am posting this but i did a search on forums and didnt find anything contructive. id like to know who is he and has there been any mention of him in hl2 or ep1? is he like some other fellow who went under stasis in hl1?

He's from an expansion to HL1, Opposing Force - hasn't been mentioned in HL2 or Ep1, and probably won't be mentioned in the future episodes.

Sheppard is one of the soldiers who got sent to Black Mesa. You play as him in Opposing Force. He went through the base, almost caught up with Freeman once, and in the end, was placed into stasis by the G-Man.

Well Episode Two we will be learning more about the G-Man (the guy who put Shephard in stasis). It's possible that we will, in-directly, learn some info about Shephards status.
