Just completed Episode One! The ending isn't that good compared to Half-Life/Half-Life², I personally feel Opposing Force had a better ending (more build-up to a grand finale, which is lacking in EP1).
Story-wise, not much is revealed, if anything. I noticed a distinct lack of synth, but I'm guessing they're for one of the next episodes.
Having Alyx around to help is fun, and some of the comments really add to the game.
Zombines are fun, but perhaps a bit overused... Zombies in general were overused in my opinion. It's fun to blast em, but I didn't quite like the complete blackout level.
Besides the blackout level and the semi-disappointing ending gameplay, I really liked it, though!
By the way, I bet Valve just got lazy, cause I didn't see no G-men
