Cannot download HL2 videos

[symptom]

When I double click on the "Half-Life 2 Movies" icon it says "Preparing to play..." and then in a few seconds it says "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time."

I tried right clicking the icon and going into properties. I changed "automatic updates" to "Always keep this game up to date" but it changes right back to "Do not automatically update this game"

Anybody know what is wrong?

Try uninstall steam, reboot the system, dowload Steam so you know it's not corrupted somewhere and reinstall it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked fine.

It seems like every time I want to do something with Steam, I have to reinstall it

Not if you use XP.

I have sometimes the same problems (Win2k). If you recognize this problem close Steam, wait a few seconds and open the taskmanager and look if there is always the Steam task. If it is kill it and restart Steam.

After I downloaded the video I had the same problem, but making these steps it worked without reinstalling Steam.
