Cheapest Collectors Edition Price?

What?

They must have changed it like yesterday or something because I checked again a couple of days ago.

Sorry for the wrong info.:/

Most prices for stores are likely to change as it goes gold, so there is no point pre-ordering yet.

Where is it for sale online, but at the cheapest price?

Thanks in Advance.

one thing to keep in mind before u make any purchases.
there is no final price for it yet... what does that mean? retailers are likely to change the price at least one more time before the final details are released about the game.

can retailers do this? sure they can.. if u pre-order the game, what u are doing is putting down money for the guarantee that u will get ur copy of the game on release day...u are not paying for the game with the money put down for the pre-order.

anyway, pre-order wisely.. don't want to be sitting a few days before u get the game while others are already half way through it :P

Thats wrong. Here in Nyc any store you preorder at the money counts towards the game. For example the minimum amount you can put down is 5$ if you put down 45$ and the game costs 45$ you just have to go pick it up when its at the store. If you want to cahnge the preorder you can do that also. Like i was planing on buying the CE but now i only want the reg. You go to them and tell them the change the games. Lets say you dont want the game anymore they give you the money you put down back.

i understand ur point and yes, the same thing happened with my pre-order...but until there is an actual game to sell, all it counts as is money towards a pre-order.

some pple tend to think just because they have pre-ordered a game, they own the game already or something...fact is they don't own the game.. not until the game is available and is paid in full.

Did they ever release what is going to be included in the plat edition?

Yeah, I'm waiting to see what's gonna be in it before I decide to get it. I mean, I'm already planning on buying that "Making Of" book, if all they do is include a watered-down version of that in a pretty box, well I ain't gonna buy it.

Im from Eastern Europe
Could someone recommend me some good e-shop from around here so i dont have to pay like 40dollars to post office
On Slovak or Czech e-shops its rare to see an option to preoder even classic version of HL2, not speaking of CE...

Is the CE edition limited? I'm really not sure if I want it or not (well, I do, but money is tight).. I'd really like to know what I'm getting first. I suppose theres no harm in pre-ordering though.

well nobody knows for sure.. but Collectors Editions are normally limited... and im not expecting any different here.

The problem is. (EXAMPLE) If Walmart pre-sales the game for 80 dollars, millions of people pre-order it. Then 2 days before release Valve says the price is only 60 bucks. Do you think Walmart is going to refund everyone of those customers 20 dollars? NOPE. I think I'm going to wait until the game goes gold before I pre-order the CE.

Not to burst your bubble, but stores can sell it at pretty much whatever price they want. Competition is the only thing keeping the price down, not Valve. If everyone sells the CE at $80, then that's where it will stay. The only thing that would drop the price is if people didn't buy it. So waiting really doesn't help at all.

So if Walmart is selling it for $10,000.00, and then Valve says its only $5,000.00, Walmart will keep selling it for whatever it wants? No. It will lower the price to come closer to what Valve says it should be. I worked in retail for a while. I know how things run. Now granted those numbers I threw out are only examples. But if Walmart is selling it for 79, and Valve says its only worth 60. I will bet you my life savings Walmart brings their price down.

This is where you are wrong. Wal-Mart does not charge what Valve tells them to charge. It costs Wal-Mart X number of dollars to purchase HL2 from Vivendi/Valve. Wal-Mart then marks HL2 up a standard percentage to sell to the public. What I'm saying is that percentage could be anything. They could charge twice as much as what it cost them if they want. The only problem with that is that CompUSA and Best Buy and EB won't charge that much, so Wal-Mart is forced to drop their price to stay in competition with them. Now, if all of those stores suddenly decided to sell HL2 for twice what it cost them, that's what we would have to pay. As long as people bought it at that price, it would stay at that price. Once sales started to drop, the stores would begin dropping prices to encourage more sales. Valve/Vivendi have nothing to do with price setting, other than the fact that no business would ever charge less than what they paid for it. Thus endeth economics 101.

well i don't know what u learned working in retail.. but as a shopper, i have seen games priced higher in some places than other places.
u want an example? sure.

Doom3 at the local FutureShop (we are talking of two Canadian retails here FYI) was priced at $80 Canadian without tax.. which meant the game would cost somewhere around $85-87 dollars in total.

i bought my copy at EB at a total cost of $75 dollars Canadian... do i need to do the math for u here as well? :p
retailers can sell products at higher prices within reason...meaning retailers can't charge $150 dollars for a game because here in Canada we have a pricing system and if a customer is way over-charged (like my $150 dollar example) they can file a complaint with the proper authorities :)

i am sure theres some similar system in the US where customers are price protected within reason of course ;)

The game isn't even gold yet. Why don't you just wait. You're like love sick puppies. You could whimper home and downplay your obvious errection over a hint of release.

CE is lame. Isn't even announced yet and you are looking for the "best price" !!! Get a clue, brain, sense of time, valium, or cut off your fingers to stop you from typing out your thoughts.

I know this is alittle off topic but is the ce gonna come on dvd and cd????

theres no info on this...however Gabe has said there will be CD and DVD versions of the game...now popular belief is that the CE will be DVD only version.. but since we have no info on the contents of the CE or its pricing and even whether it will be in CD or DVD.. its all speculation at this point.

gotta wait for the info :)
