Colin McRae Rally, the genre-leading off-road racer, is to return in 2007, Codemasters announced today. The all-new McRae game, (working title CMR’07), is now in development exclusively for next-generation platforms.

After a two-year break for the series, Codemasters Studios’ designers are back creating a totally reinvigorated McRae experience. The new Colin McRae title will go beyond the series’ point-to-point rallying to deliver the most diverse selection of extreme off-road competitions. Sensational gravel, mud and dirt racing events from the world over will include perilous Hill Climb and collision-packed Rally Cross events.

Nice. I am just so excited because a really good next-gen rally game is just what I have been wanting! I was hoping that the guys behind WRC would do it, but this sounds just fine since it would see a wider release.

Hard to tell much from the screens though. They look damn good, but seeing it running would be ass-kicking....

Not really a fan of rally games, may give it a go though, i never judge before i try

Colin McRae Rally 2005 is my favorite racing game of all time and is a blast to play. I wrote an email letter to Microsoft asking them to make sure that the Xbox version of Colin McRae is included on their backwards compatibility of the 360, so I can play it in High Def.

These screenshots bring tears to my eyes. Judging by the 2005 version, the game will play even better than it looks - and that is pretty ****ing incredible.

This is a next-gen system seller game for me, and I was already leaning heavily towards the xbox360.
