So I have a Compaq X Gaming PC (it was a gift , I would have built my own if I could have) and I need to wipe the Hard Drive and restore everything to it's factory settings. So I put in the DVD and it reads, then I shutdown my computer and restart it.
Then when the Compaq recovery system thingy is supposed to come up it says:
These recovery CDs (its a DVD for gods sake!) do not match this Compaq PC model. Please press any key to continue.
Then it goes on to start the computer normally.
Some things I thought might have been causing the problem but were not:
The DVD is in the DVD drive, not the CD drive.
The DVD is clean. Spotless more like.
This is without a doubt the DVD they gave me with the computer.
I have run Ad-Aware and Norton Anti-Virus on my computer. Booth show no spyware/adware/viruses of any kind.
I thought Service Pack 2 might be causing a problem as I just got it so I uninstalled it. Still no luck.
I have wiped my hard drive many times before with this DVD without any problems. What's causing this? ANY help is greatly appreciated.
