I was wondering if you can copy the downloaded steam version to cd once you have paid for the cd key.

You can either burn the gcf for backup purposes, or just burn the game folder "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\[email protected]\*GAME\" --> (burn the game folder and all sub directories), and then to reinstall with the gcf method just copy the gcf to "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps" or for the other method copy the contents to "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\[email protected]\". Personally I would probably go with the gcf method.

It is not as good as buying the original boxed version though.

I would imagine you will start seeing things like we did with CZ where retailers are breaking apart OEM packs and selling the serial numbers on EBAY. Price will be much lower than purchasing the boxed version. I payed 10 bucks for CZ key and imagine that HL2 will drop to around 20. There is no overhead at that point for the reseller. All they have to do is email you the key and the transaction is complete.

I just think it's better to buy it, you get the box and I dont know why I just prefer it.
