In the guidebook it mentions the Crab-Synth and the Mortar-Synth. In the guidebook it says that these things are self-replicating, part-replacing and are the backbone of the Combine's "subsequent armies." It says that the Crab-Synth is a meele type of creature with mandibles and that the Mortar-Synth uses "biomechanical armaments and shells." They are in Benefactory and the attacked pictures are of their one appearence in the game when you ride on the pod for the last time. I used the model viewer to look at the Crab-Synth, but I messed the checksums up so I'm reinstalling SDK and HL2. The model viewer lists bones in the models and the Mortar -Synth has a RGrabber bone and a LGrabber bone, so it obviously is capable of melee attacks. It also has a "population bone" which was located inside it, so this must be where it replicates itself or fixes itself. I have a few SDK screenshot or the Mortar-Synth's motion and it's attack looks like a mortar. It has a catapault type thing and it flings foreward, I assume with shells. I will post more on the Crab-Synth when my SDK works again. In the meantime, does anyone know home to use the npc_create command and where to use it? I want to try and have this thing fight some resistance soldiers if it's possible. Finally, why would valve create something this detailed if they weren;t going to use it or put it in HL3 if it ever comes? Any ideas or screenshots from SDK?
