Who has actually seen this trailer?

http://gametrailers.com/player.php?id=1064&type=mov

Wow. Just wow.

The only actual DNF trailer ever released, man, that trailer is from like 2001 or something? The game looks phenomenal even at that age :O I cant wait to see what they have in store for us when they finally release more media.

Yea I remember screenshots being released before the PS2 was released, and the graphics were around the same then too.

looking at the trailer, which is f*cking cool, I can see why it may never come out, they tried/are trying to do too many things in one game, did you see the sheer amount of different things you could do? it was stunning to say the least, but certainly doesn;t bode well for production time, hopefully it does get released someday

But just think when it will come out, it will wipe out every single game out there. Its amazing. That trailer looks heaps more fun than the majority of the modern games.

Saw the trailer ages ago.

The game is a joke. Its an imaginary game built on 3D Realms imagination. They want you to believe.

Wow, I'd never seen that before...does look pretty awesome...but then trailers often make a game look a lot better than it turns out to be...coffhl2coff ahem excuse me tickly throat there..
;)

Duke Nukem Forever is a very aptly chosen name.

I have given up on DNF, I'm not even going to think about it.

Maybe it will pleasantly suprise me one day when it's released. Until then....:P

Trailer is 2001...lol. Wonder if they've made any progress since then. They're more likely to hit 20th (2011) anniversary than 15th(2006).

Also I heard the project leader always gets angry and abusive at fans who comment on it being late

"It'll be done when it's ****ing done! Stop bothering me! It'll be the greatest game ever!:flame:"

I can't believe they scrapped that entire game. Gone. That trailer was incredibly competitive from a graphics standpoint at least.

They started over in early 2003. Something a lot of people don't know. The game currently doesn't even look like that. Go to the forums at www.3drealms.com. George Broussard is a regular poster there and he confirmed that they did scrap everything. They did their own engine and everything, but he has said repeated that this build of the game is the one that will be released to the public.......right.

It's pretty cool over there. A lot of poor souls just waiting and waiting. George Broussard actually turns to them for a lot of input...interesting to say the least.

They canceled that to remake it? WTF That looks KICKASS FUN!!! They should have released that and then madea nother one with Doom 3 engine. :/

I agree with you. They were incredibly stupid to cancel it, but they did and it's now about 2 years into development. They were almost done in 2003...I guess Broussard must have gone crazy because they lost a lot of members of their design team when he pulled the plug. A lot of em just said "to hell with it".

Oh well. I certainly haven't lost any sleep over it. That game is going to have quite a bit to live up to that it has NO chance of fulfilling. Good luck to them.

Well, Doom 3 wouldn't be ideal....lots of open locations and stacks of enemies? The Far Cry engine or the new Serious engine (I forget what their proper names are) would be better, from my limited understanding....

The doom 3 engine can renger big areas. Just because doom 3 was all small rooms doesnt mean the engine cant render it. Wait till you see how large the quake 4 areas are. A lot of engines would be good for it. Only problem is i dont like how people and metalic objects look like in doom3. We will see, im sure they will pull it off.

there's speculation that it will show at e3 this year as take 2 leased out another booth especially for something big...

when people commented about it on 3dr boards, joe siegler wrote back saying 'interesting speculation'

they love tagging on our balls though...constantly teasing us

yeah - saw trailers ages ago...Daikanta rings bells any time i hear 'Duke Nukem Forever'

Most of the 'original' stuff in it has probably been done by now...and when it comes out, if it comes out, other games will have newer and better features.

it honestly suprises me that hardly any of you have seen that trailer though...it was massive when it came out

infact i remember i was on 56k at the time and i got it burnt on cd and sent to me...it came in the post and i was heading out for school and i thought i'd have a quick look...but the sound wasn't working proper. i was gutted yet blown away by the actual footage

I didn't expect the trailer to be good but that game actually looked fun!

Damn, dude, it looked ready back then! My question is, how has the company managed to pay its employees over all this time? All that salary with no product has gotta be hurting their wallets, no?

Say, all this "I want to believe" talk makes me want to photoshop a DNF-themed take on Mulder's UFO poster. The question is, what would replace the UFO?

It's annoying that all that work in the trailer has been scrapped. It looked like they had an awesome game, but some idiot for whatever reasons decided to scrap it. If they had released it would have probably been one of the best shooters released, but now they have too much to live up to, and DNF will only be a disappointment no matter how good it is.

DNF is a game that will never be released. Why, you might ask. Very well, I'll give you answers. You see, DNF is actually a secret project funded by the US government. It is unknown at this point what the purpose of this project is, but one might speculate the possibility of a superior human race. This would mean, yes, total extinction of our current form.

However, mankind will never witness the release of DNF, because our minds simply couldn't handle something as advanced as this "game". It is rumoured that the programmers of this game are not even humans. Oddly enough, there are three words in "Duke Nukem Forever". Why is this odd? Well, there is an obvious connection between the number of the beast 666, and Duke Nukem Forever: Both have three letters/numbers!
Duke = 6
Nukem = 6
Forever =6

Coincidence? I DON'T THINK SO!!!

If it would've been released back then...
It probably would've revolutionized ALOT.
But noooo.
God, Everytime I watch that trailer...I get giddy as hell.

I'm still trying to figure out the pattern out at the end of your little paragraph there.

Siegler is a dick. No offense if anyone here knows him, but that guy is on a serious powertrip over on those boards.

It would be nice to get a look at DNF, but I think we're more likely to get a look at it later this year. E3 seems too soon. They only technically started the game in 2003 and they have no interest in showing it until the light is visible at the end of the tunnel. As stubborn as they are about hammering out details, I doubt they're gonna be ready to show anything.

You guys totally missed it ...

I mean, should'nt the title have given it away? Duke Nukem:Forever? Its never going to be released in like ... FOREVER.

Man...I bet a game like that would beat tons of games today even. It looks like it'd be better than Doom 3 and Farcry to me.

tru.dat

The 3DRealms forums are actually providing lots of info on the game, so it's definately not dead, still an active project. From the stuff i've been hearing, it sounds like a great game.

HAHA Im gaining interest in this game now - I have stumbled across lots of Nostalgia. Also did you know that this will be using an online delivery service like Steam? It's called XStream (hehe the link between extreme and stream[ing games through the net])

Heres a link to some screenshots all the way from 1997. Must be pretty gay since alot of the stuff they must have made a while ago must be totally redone in order to keep with the technology and graphics of the rest of the game.

As far as I know, that was using the Q2 engine - now they use their own engine, with the Meqon physics simulator. Heh look for the site for that physics engine, their demo games are quite fun. I also found the screenshots I saw before PS2 came out, or when it just came out.

Those were featured in PC Gamer Christmas 1999, as you can see that the bottom corner.

The question is...what the hell is taking them so long?

Are they just doing this on purpose to surprise everyone?

I guess you never realised, but a trailer came out in 1998 as well.

the graphics didn't look too great to me, of course, I only watched the first half.

That trailer came with some game i bought a few years ago...dont remember which though...
