episode 2 automatic install?

hey guys,

ive been experiencing problems with half life 2 episode 2 of which the game installs itself everytime i open steam. i dont know if this is the problem but ive pruchased garrys mod and i was wondering if when i use objects from garrys mod that require hl2e2 steam installs it so that it can be used?

anyway im not sure any suggestions?

I think Garry's Mod has menu in-game for what content you add into it. I am not sure how it could cause EP2 to install, though.

Garry's Mod uses the orange box games now doesn't it? I think they ported it over a while back, I'm fairly certain. So yeah Steam requires you to install aspects of other games (perhaps all of them) in order to use those files in Garry's Mod. I don't think this is mandatory, as the poster above says...you should be able to choose which games you want to use through Garry's Mod.
