Far Cry HDR issues

With the 1.3 update of Far Cry, you were able to toggle HDR of and off. I finally got a graphics card that can handle HDR, but as usual it's causing problems. The HDR effects themselves work great, but theres something else. Well, you have a look;(

When i turned it on, suddenly everything just went transparent. You can only see the shirt on the characters, you can actually see inside the barrel of weapons, the buildings are transparent, and it's like the very ground below me has been kidnapped by some kind of black hole.

I didn't mess anything up. All i did was type "\r_hdrrendering 7" in the console (i also tried the various levels 1-11, but it's the same problem). I have a brand new Geforce 6800 GS XXX card with the newest drivers, an athlon 3700 processor, and 1024 RAM memory.

Did you uninstalled all gfx drivers before installing the new ones?

Make sure that when you update GFX card drivers you dont just install over the old ones.

I figured it out. Turns out that the game doesn't allow you to run HDR along with Antialiasing. I just turn AA off, and it works. It's too bad for such a good looking game though.

When you play with HDR it looks awsome, but not quite as clean as with full AA. And when you play with AA, it's not quite as alive as with HDR. Stupid CryTek.

Impressive at first, but it all goes downhill...fast. It does have a great immersion / graphic quality though, I'll give ya that.

It was done 3 years before its release with Operation Flashpoint. And it was and still is much better in Flashpoint

I wouldn't do that if i were you. The 1.4 patch isn't really done yet. The one up for download is a leaked patch, wich Crytek hasn't finished. It causes more problems than it solves.

And i like the voice actor. Theres something very Sylvester Stallone-ish about him. What i hate most with Far Cry is that the enemy sees you too easily (and i mean waaaaay to easily). What it could use is a camoflauge part in the gameplay, like Metal Gear Solid 3.

I haven't gotten any of the patches and it runs and looks great! HDR didn't do that much for the game IMHO. Now if they had developed it specifically with that in mind from the get-go, then it might be vastly different, but for now, I would avoid it altogether.

The game rules, by the way, and not just because the Sandbox allows you to create your own tropical paradise :thumbs:!

HDR is nice but I prefer AA, it's more apparent most of the time whereas HDR is more situational.

It does with patch 1.3

And its quite impressive when you're inside. Outside though i don't really notice anything. Also the clouds in the sky at night seem to be brighter than anything. Its rather unusual
