Favorite Alternative Music

I'm looking for some new interesting music to check out so I was wondering what all you guys listen to. It can be rock, rap whatever, as long as its not like the generic crap you hear on the radio. Name and short description please.

Here's my list:

Portishead: 60s-ish spy music mixed with hip hop and craziness.

Billy Talent: More punk than alternative, but I had to put them, they're my favorite band. Tight and unique sounding.

Muse: My second favorite band. Melodramatic and melancholy awesomeness.

Massive Attack: Some cool electronic sounding trip-hop stuff.

Mars Volta: Hard to describe. Electronic-ish experimental rock. Some spanish stuff. Great band.

I'd suggest these anyway, just because... yeah. Plus, its Tony Levin. How can it be bad if he's there.
