File Structure

Does anyone know, or has anyone asked what the file structure for hl2 is gonna be? I mean will it be like the original where you can go in and make changes go .cfg files or will it be totaly different?
 
When Valve announced that they were working on their own engine, they said that it would use the same file structure as the quake engine.

Infact, that's the only simularity between the two engines.
 
the source engine is completly redoing everything though. im pretty sure only a few file types will remain the same, like .bsps. gabe said that they will be using somthing like a zip file for compression, and that you can eaisly extract things. not much info on the game structure has been relesed.
