Anyone got any tips for this? I'm sick and tired of gunner's spraying machine gun at tanks (or being just blind), at times I wish there was an eject co-pilot button I could hit ... but back to the point. Is it best to get the chopper in a rotational movement (as in circle strafing motion) before I switch seats?

Oh and does anyone know how to bind a key to a specific camera angle? It's a bit annoying having to cycle to use the ones I use (mainly view back and no-cockpit driver view).

I usually just pick a target and take myself into near orbit, switch and launch a tv...

yeah, go into your control options, and go to helicopter, and you'll see the different camera angles on the right side..just change it to whatever..though I never change but once to take out the cockpit.

What I do if I'm flying alone, I get decently high, turn left of my target, switch seats, *at this time, the heli is starting to climb slowly and rotate to the right* then I'm switching to my TV missles, and just launch it, then direct it the rest of the way. It's really fun by yourself, and great aiming practice.

Hard to shoot infantry with the gun while your spinning and climbing though..... I still just suggest a copilot :(

Awesome, can't believe I missed that bind camera view last time.

Thanks for the tip, guess I should start practicing by being really high up first.

Whats wrong with co-pilots? I'm a regular gunner in choppers and the pilot allows me to rip through infantry or take down other choppers. TV guided is usually an assistance weapon to the pilots rocket pods. You should be working together with the gunner to get him nailing the kills. Check the positions, gunner is killing, pilot flies, know your role to help him and he helps you. Whats the problem?

^ I have absolutely nothing against co-pilots, infact I'd prefer a good gunner over flying solo anyday. However, having flown the chopper quite a bit, the odds of having a remotely intelligent co-pilot is about 1 in 5. Ask most of the pilots around here and I'm willing to bet almost all agree that your average pubby co-pilot are functionally retarded.

I can't even begin to count the amount of times I've put my gunner into TV position shots and all they end up doing is spraying a tank with machine gun. I then have to repeat 50 times to TV missiles before they realize, 'hey machine gun vs Armor isn't working all that well'. When they do finally discover what TV missiles are, they use it exclusively even against infantry (they miss... alot). Listen, I don't mind helping the new players every now and then, but when it happens almost everytime and their in-experience is ruining fun, that's when I get a little pissed and prefer to fly solo (or not fly at all).

Another thing that pisses me off is when gunner's go looking everywhere but front of the chopper, I can't even count the amount of times we've died when the gunner decides to shoot at some random sniper way back while I have an AA gunner lined up for him... Or when the gunner's decides to shoot the machine gun at some random infantry when I line the chopper up for TV missiles.

And I disagree about TV guided being an 'assistance weapon', personally I view it as the primarily option for anything in armor. :/

Agreed. I'm always amazed by just how stupid some players can be. Most teammates don't understand the simplest of tactics, like "follow me", or "I need ammo".

I'm an outstanding gunner. A few people here can back me up.

^^ You should be my gunner more often then ... although I haven't flown with you before.

D:

edit: Alright just got out of round with Fliko, I have got to say, killing armor while flying solo is incredibly satisfying :E It wasn't anywhere near as hard as I thought, pretty simple in retrospect. Not to mention very helpful for losing AA lock while out of flares  Only thing now is I got to learn to gun while solo piloting, now that's a bit hard.

The eject thing wouldn't work, because it would be abused so 'friends' could always fly together.

It's pretty easy to missile (not TV) infantry, no need to switch seats.

And i guess you haven't gunned very often, because you thinking the gunner being 'blind' is the gunner thinking your 'blind' too.

It happens all the time, I'll be gunning, pilot will fly right by a house with an anti-tank prone, and i'll be trying to gun him but he's like 1/4" outta range, but the chopper is actually pointing at a sniper right in front of us laying prone.

Heh, I wasn't being serious when I talked about eject button, it was more in lin with just wishful thinking. :)

You're limited to 8 rockets with limited splash, that depending on the heli has varying missile spread, it's not exactly the ideal weapon of choice vs infantry. Realistically you're limited to about 1-2 kill per run (assuming they're not all grouped up and static) which isn't very efficient. With the way rocket's fire straightforward, you're very limited in terms of targets, moving target's running behind cover become really hard to hit compared to machine gun. Of course, in an open map it's easy but open maps coincidently aren't exactly my favorite maps (relies heavily on friendly air superiority, something you can rarely count on).

I've gunned quite a bit actually, and thing is 90% of the time I will point out and go after the greatest immediate threat (AA, Tank, .50 Cal, etc). I'm the type of pilot that goes out of my way to manuevre the heli into an easy direct straightforward kill, it's VERY annoying when the gunner decides to look way back trying to kill some random sniper which pose very little threat when I have AA lined directly infront. The way I see it, gunner's should be following the same page as the pilot, it makes flying that much easier and efficient. That's not saying gunner's dont' have a say, cause I appreciate every target they spot that I miss, especially heli's and whatnot.

When I fly, I always try to invite my co-pilots into my squad so moments when they spot an AT that I miss can be adjusted. However, almost of the co-pilots either fail to spot the targets or don't have VoIP, which makes my flying less effective.
