and some people are worried if they can even run hl2 on a 6800GT and 1.8ghz CPU. *sigh*

no, you think it can, but it really doesn't.

Espicially with the water.

I thought my gf4 could too, but then I upgraded to a 9800pro. ;)

my geforce 2 can play hl2 on medium graphics

Here's the thing. You asked "CAN" my GF2 play HL2 on medium. The answer is yes it can. But the real question is if you should. First, you shouldn't play on medium. You should play on the recommended setting (probably not Medium).

Second, if you really want to enjoy HL2 you should look into upgrading the video card and probably the PC it's in too. The GF2 was out a long time ago and there have been huge, huge, huge performance gains since then.

gosh, and I thought it was a statement

yeah its an old card, im not willing to spend like $400 on a vid card though.. not worth it imo
seeing how i play 1.6 more then hl2

Yeah, it makes me chuckle when someone comes and says, I've got a Pentium IV 2.6 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, GeForce 6800 and 120 GB hard drive, any chance I can run this game? Gee, are people computer illiterate or what?

People with as low as 1.5 GHz, GeForce 4 Ti and 256 MB RAM can play the game. And so they do. People who don't understand what specs mean don't need powerful comps. Sorry for ranting, just something that annoys me.
