I am think of purchasing this card "HIS Hightech ATi RADEON 9600XT Video Card, 256MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "EXCALIBUR RADEON 9600XT CLASSIC"

for about 130 dollars.

Is it good enough to run high end games on?

And is it a good buy?

Thanks for your help

I dunno, I reckon you could find a 9800Pro for only a bit more than that. It would be able to run any game at the moment. I t depends on the graphics setting you want to play on. You wouldn't be able to play a game like farcry on max settings at 1024x768.

The 256mb on the low end cards is a gimmick. A 128mb version would show no difference in performance from all the tests I've seen, even on the 9800pro 256mb version. Still, the 9800pro is an awesome price for the amount of performance you get. No other card in its range touches it. I suggest you save if you can for a 9800pro, you'll be happier with it in HL2. I have seen 9800pro cards listed for $193, I think saving another $65 for the 9800pro is worth it.

take it easy fools!! its he's first post for god's sake! and i have a 9600 pro and run's amazing! now im off in the dark again..
