Half-Life 1 WAD location

Hi, I'm new to mapping half life

i was configing hammer (and i did it) but the only thing is, I cant find "halflife.wad" to put in the textures.

btw: using steam and its not where its suposed to be (...steamapps/[email protected]/halflife/valve)

The halflife.wad was only included in the old retail HL, now they use GCF files

Download GCFScape (google it) and look in halflife.gcf, it will be in there somwhere.

Actually it's in half-life.gcf in the SteamApps folder. You need to extract halflife.wad with GCFScape. Close Steam. Open GCFScape. Open half-life.gcf with GCFScape. Browse to the halflife/valve folder. Right click on halflife.wad. Extract to... And put in in the actual halflife/valve folder. Now you'll be able to use it with Hammer.

Ok this is a bit complicated

:sniper: My computer was screwd up so I rebooted/started over with my computer. Iwas an idiot and lost my windows cd key so used my brothers cd key and now windows think I stole the xp and wont let me update. And if I don't update, I can't install the gcf extracter (it says must be updated windows). So, is there any place where I can dl the HL wad other than finding my windows cd ?
? Please?
