I don't really get headaches, but my mom gets something called "Migraines". Wtf are those? Same thing right?

Edit: and I got a 5

Seriously, you've never heard of migraines? They're like, the worst pain imaginable. I've had one the past two days. Whenever I get one, I pretty much throw up, bury my head in a pillow, and pass out for a few hours.

One of the best things I've found to deal with headaches is to lay down in the dark. Go to sleep if possible. Shit works wonders. Everybody knows this probably.

Well obviously the passage of time is part of that, but it seems just closing my eyes helps a lot. Laying down will relax your muscles if you have a tension related headache.

My mother has RA and, despite knowing even more about medicine and biology than I do, feels compelled to try every homeopathic cure she reads about. This means that sometimes when I am rooting through the pantry to find some some flour, I will often find myself presented with something like ELEVEN BOTTLES OF CLAM JUICE ALL AT ONCE

my number contribution to this thread is eleven because tbh finding eleven bottles of clam juice in your pantry is about as unpredictable as a dice roll

*Looks in my pantry*

So what, I like Clam Juice!

Oh I've definitely heard of migraines, but I wasn't sure if it was a common term. Its all my mom goddamn talks about, its annoying as shit.

I haven't had a headache worthy of the term for at least a decade. Just getting random headaches sounds strange to me. I usually don't even get headaches when I'm sick, though usually I only stay sick for a day or two.

For most of my life, I thought a migraine was just a very severe headache. Later in life, I began to get the hint that it was something different, but still, nobody else seemed to be able to describe it as anything other than some severe headache shit.

So I look it up...
The typical migraine headache is unilateral (affecting one half of the head) and pulsating, lasting from 4 to 72 hours;[2] symptoms include nausea, vomiting, photophobia (increased sensitivity to light), and phonophobia (increased sensitivity to sound).[4][5][6] Approximately one-third of people who suffer migraine headache perceive an aura—unusual visual, olfactory, or other sensory experiences that are a sign that the migraine will soon occur.[7]

Initial treatment is with analgesics for the headache, an antiemetic for the nausea, and the avoidance of triggering conditions. The cause of migraine headache is unknown; the most common theory is a disorder of the serotonergic control system
Damn. That's ill.

So you can see it coming? It's telegraphed .. I'M ON THE WAY, RITE NOW
