HL2 Episode One Stutter

Hi,

I got Episode One yesterday & my gameplay is interupted every few mins by stupid stutters.

Not sounds stutters the game will lag like go down to 20 fps stutter/jerk then resume normality.

Ive defrag the game files using steam, defrag my hadrdrive, i have no programs running in the background, except whats necessary to run XP, have authenticated files through steam.

PS HL2 runs fine with no stutters.


This is my setup..

AMD Barton 2600+
Creative SB Audigy 4 7.1
1.5GB Corsair XMS 3200
128Mb Inno3d 6600GT
4Mbps Broadband
ASUS A7N8X-X

Try Validating the GCFs?

And try lowering your video settings to see if that will help..

Validating, thats the words, yeh ive already done that.

GFX settings are on high w/ 2xaa full HDR @ 1280x1024 native resolution for LCD monitor.

These settings run HL2 flawlessly. But i will turn them down abit.

PS when i turn AA off i get next to 1 fps?

UPDATE>>> I turned down texture to medium & increased my heapsize to 750000 1/2 my RAM & the game runs smooth as ever.
