HLSS needs a character modeler.

Hey we're really in need of someone to help us with modeling and uvmapping a few characters. They're currently all being model sheeted by the lovely and talented miss Shippi, and modeling them from that shouldn't be too much of a stretch. If you're interested or know anyone else who is, please don't hesitate to send them our way. :)
 
i thought Clarky was on your team? Make him do it :)
 
Clarky's fantastic and we're not replacing him, just trying to lighten his workload a bit. :)

No. Barring one character who's making a comeback from a previous HL game, it's all new characters.

What do you guys need?

We have some rough numbers for triangle count (roughly valve complexity), as well as multilpe concepts and model sheets for the characters. They need to be modeled (a few of which can use decompiled parts of valve models or even just be changes), uvmapped, textured if possible. They need to fit the sdk standard skeleton, and rigging would be an added bonus, but isn't completely required. Faces need to be set up for animations.

I'll send along some concepts if you're interested?
 
I'd Like to see some concepts. I'd be interested in working on a few characters if I can only get XSI working again, its being a pain. I'm really not keen on uv-unwrapping anything in xsi and I can't use 3ds at the moment. Would that be a deal breaker?

Depends partially on whether the facial and rigging would be something you could do? The fact that you're interested in doing "a few characters" makes me smile.

Let me talk to Shippi and I'll reply back tomorrow with at least one character's worth of concepts / model sheet.

Definitely let me know about the rigging and facial stuff though too. And see about getting XSI working. I'll reply tomorrow or email you if that's preferred.
 
Why does it make you smile? rigging is fine although I dont know how it will work with someone else mapping the uv coordinates. I guess I would import them in afterwards. I only made full facial animations for Half Life 2 a couple of times as far as I remember its vertex animations with individual keyframes for each movement. It should be fairly easy to figure out again but it takes bloddy ages to do.
