how to play HL2 demo without being online?

Ok, this is seriously screwed up. Valve doesnt wants pirates to play HL2 demo ? Or..what other reason is there to prohibit us from playing ?
I am trying to install the demo on a cool computer at work, featuring 24" widescreen LCD, but none of the computers are online.
This has to be the first game demo ever that you can't play even though you have kick-ass machine.
Is there any way to make it work ? Can I download some cracked version somewhere ? Help ? This is stupid. :flame:

you can download a cracked version of the full game and play that offline... but prolly not the demo

it needs internet couse all the demo is is hl2 with less maps,gun, ect. so they didnt take the time to make the demo more practicle
(is practicle the right word? i know i spelt it rong!)
