So I am at the level where you can see Gordon go into the Xen Telepoerter to begin the End-Game Sequence. Anyway I jump through the Portal right behind Gordon and you come out on Xen but fall to your death. When you die it gives the report of hjow you died and it says the following:

Subject Attempted to Creat Temporal Paradox.

What do you think this means. Could it mean that Gordon was the only one meant to go to that area of Xen to kill the Nihilanth and continue to progress the events of Black MEsa according to the G-man's true motives?

No I think it's a wee bit of a joke more than anything else :)

I did wonder about this when I saw it, I did in fact laugh a tad, I can't see it meaning that much :)

Chi is probably right, just a little joke :frog:

For some reason, I think the events of Black Mesa was kind of a test for Gordon and others to see if they could addapt and survive. I think the G-Man was preparing everybody for what was to come.

If you go through the portal and kill Gordon the events from Half-Life would be considered null and void, therefore you can't do it or else you would be messing with fate itself

Thats a interesting thought but its probably not true.

Use the displacer's secondary fire, sometimes you fall to your death and reads:

Subject- Corporal Shepard
Cause of death- Misuse of displacer

Something like that, but its interesting to know how they know the cause of death because there were no other comrades on Xen

The expansions dont mean squat in my opinion, theyre just there.

What about that theory that the G-man is Gordon from the future?
So the G-man would be doing all this stuff to make sure Gordon gets to the Nihilanth but then if Shepard went to Xen and killed Gordon then wouldn't that make a paradox?

If Gman was Gordon it would be created out of a Pardox, as Gman teleports Gordon from Xen at the end of HL.

Lets not also forget the alternate end of HL1, and the fact that you are Gordon, so how could Gman be you?

For the last time (ok, probably not),. Gman is not Gordon.

I did wonder that for a while afterwards but it just doesn't seem to work somehow. It's a lot of trouble to go to to single out Gordon and besides it just doesn't seem to fit with the whole cataclysmic nature of the Black Mesa events.

Took me ages to find this old comment i made,...

"Gman seems to be a negotiator or a business man. He was sent into BMRF to keep an eye on things and to make sure everything went according to plan. When things ended balls up, Gman went about his business and cleared up the mess. Gordon helped a fair bit with this since he took care of Nihilanth, so Gman hired him (Why let such limitless potential go to waste when you can have the person who holds it as a powerful tool in your organization instead?)."

Multiverse ;) . what ever happens in this universe does not effect the universe that Gman came from.

Killing his past self would not effect or kill Gman him self.

Although they are the same person and lead almost the same lives, paradoxs cannot be created. Gman is hinting to Gordon what he should do.

There's no such thing as the past!!!! Getover it.

THERE IS NO TIMETRAVELLING IN H-L2.

You're all wrong, The G-Man is really just a robot being controlled by a monkey that woke up and said "Hey you know? I'm gonna dress up in that persons body". Do the monkey killed the first lawyer it found walking out of work and stole his shit. Straight up, true story, seriously. Think about it... if hes a monkey, that would make gordon a duck. Clearly.

And how would you know this? For all you know, Barney is Gordon's daughter (yes, daughter) and Eli Vance is a robot created by the Soviet Union decades beforehand just to make the situation seem more confusing!
Never assume anything.
